Conversations with the Sidhe

This book is based on a series of conversations between the Sidhe and David Spangler. It offers a fresh vision of the "Faery worlds" and invites the reader into a new relationship with these "People of Peace". Unfolding within these pages is a remarkable record of communication with the "Shining Ones", our ancient kin. It is filled with wonder, exercises, methods of contact and practical wisdom.

Excerpt - “The Sidhe and humanity: A Modest History”

The Sidhe (pronounced shee) are a race of diverse beings who live in one of the realms invisible to us that make up the larger ecology of the Earth. My understanding is that they are not subtle beings, i.e. spirits or non-physical entities. Their world exists on a “wavelength” of the physical dimension, even though they obviously are not part of the physical wavelength or environment where we live. They are incarnated individuals who are very long-lived, though not immortal, and who have their own unique relationship to what I call the Subtle Worlds. Like us with our various races and ethnicities, they come in different “flavors” or types, differentiations that are enhanced by the fact that their bodies are capable of shape-shifting to a greater or lesser degree.

The following history is my best attempt at telling this story, based on conversations with my own subtle colleagues, friends such as John Matthews, and with Mariel herself. I’m quite sure it’s incomplete, and I’m aware that there are many details left out. But hopefully, it will give at least an overview of what we’re dealing with.

Just as the Earth floats through space as a physical sphere, so it exists in a vast cosmic subtle universe in which it is a distinct field of life and consciousness. It possesses a “world soul” holding within its purview countless trillions of other evolving lives who call this planet home. While the World Soul is in constant communion and communication with the cosmic spiritual environment, there are times when a particular “wave” of interaction takes place. At such times, the Earth may receive an influx of new consciousnesses, as well as having waves that move on, having gained what they needed or could receive from this particular planetary environment. Remember, we’re not talking about anything physical here. These transactions and comings and goings are at an energetic level and represent the movement of souls, not people in space ships!

One of the waves that came to Earth millions of years ago contained the seeds of what are now both the Sidhe and humanity. At that time, they formed a unified field of consciousness, what I think of as a “cosmic humanity.” We need to think of this “wave” as arriving over a period of millions of years, coming in stages much as a tide moves up the beach in stages; each stage laid down a pattern that supported the emergence of the next stage.

As I understand it, the biosphere was only just forming at this time. All of the incarnational activity of this early cosmic humanity took place in the subtle realms of the planet. It was during this period that what we would recognize as the human soul began to take form as cosmic humanity progressively engaged with the energies and substance of the World Soul.

Again, as I understand it, none of the beings that came in those first waves remains on Earth today. They moved on and were replaced by what we might think of as “descendants” or at any rate by those who carried on the process and built on what the previous stage had accomplished. Think of the Greek myths of the Earth and Sky (Gaia and Uranus) mating to give birth to the Titans who in turn were replaced by the Olympians (such as Zeus, Apollo, Athena, and so on) who then gave way to humanity. Many cultures around the world have similar myths of successive generations of gods that finally end with the arrival of humanity as we know it today.

As time went on, the incarnational process went deeper into the planetary subtle fields moving eventually into the Incarnate Realms such as the realms of thought, feeling, and eventually the etheric. By this time, the wave of cosmic humanity that was most active were the progenitors of humanity as we now know it, souls that stood on the edge of full incarnation into physical form. This wave contained what Mariel, my Sidhe contact, has called our “common ancestor”.

However, even then, there was a pulling apart. There were those who sought the experience of deeper incarnation into matter, those who felt it best to remain in the more subtle dimensions, those who were willing to enter etheric substance but no further, and so on. Some of this pulling apart had purpose; it was felt important that humanity as a whole have part of its collective field close to the Earth and the physical plane and part closer to the realm of Souls, providing a full spectrum of connection and expression.

But some of this pulling apart by some members of the common human energy field seems to have been in resistance to moving deeper into more dense and constricted conditions of physical incarnation. And it was here that the split between Sidhe and Humanity began to take place. Many Sidhe took the plunge, so to speak, and became human, forming an incarnational partnership with the evolving primates that resulted in what we would recognize as human consciousness being formed. Some Sidhe took the plunge but held onto their Sidhe form, becoming a related but distinct species
